The ONE thing you Need to Know Before Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It has been probably since I was about 5 years old. Each year we would visit my grandmother in NYC and chow on delicious Puerto Rican food and the best damn turkey ever cooked. (I’m still working on that). So needless to say, hosting for my family has been a HUGE honor and something I look forward to all year.
This year, we are choosing to have a small dinner with just my parents and my in-laws. Party of 7 verses the normal 27-35. But let me tell you, for as upset as I was about choosing to cancel our big dinner, I am just as much relieved. We’ve got some home projects going on and let me tell you, it’s not really suited for hosting. Sure, I could hide all the madness and throw a bang up Thanksgiving, but I am so relieved I don’t have to.
So the ONE thing you need to know before Thanksgiving?
If it was meant to be, it would be. Its annoying, its upsetting, it’s all the things- for traditions having to be altered and changed and even cancelled. But I am a huge believer in fate, in gentle signs from the Universe, and a believer that if its meant for you it’ll find a way. This year, it just wasn’t meant for me to host a big holiday and I’m going with it. So if the holidays look a little different for you too, just know that that is how it was meant to look for you this year and let’s make the most of it. Need a pick-me-up? Check out last year’s post for my 4 tips on how to thrive at Thanksgiving.
New memories will be made this year, but I wanted to share some that were made in previous years. I’ll spare you the sight of my chaotic home right now, and share some pics from past Thanksgivings!
