The MVP: Denim, Pt. 2

Denim Stats…this is a prime example of when an accountant becomes a personal stylist. Ladies, numbers don’t lie. If you know what measures your body needs, it makes purchasing denim so much easier. Have you ever ordered 2 pairs of different jeans, both ‘high rise’ and in one pair you can see your belly button and the other is trying to eat your bra? I sure have. Not all retailers have the same interpretation of ‘high rise’ or ‘flare’ so knowing what fits your body best will set you up for success in the future. You will need a tape measure to get these figures like this one here.

a beautiful year

What does beauty mean to you? Can something be irregular and beautiful? I’ve always found beauty in unexpected things, but recently a article in In Style magazine has me pushing my thoughts of beauty just a bit further. While reading this issue, I came across an article featuring a model smiling with less than perfect teeth, even missing her front tooth. I caught myself thinking why did the company choose her to pose for this article? I felt like I had been brainwashed by perfect pearly whites thinking that she shouldn’t be featured with her imperfect pout. Could I not see her beauty? And then I stopped myself. Beautiful doesn’t have to be this standard of symmetry.

The Quick Fix

Why do we continually fall for the quick fix when deep down, we know that to get real results you have to put the work in? I often say to my clients, your wardrobe wasn’t built in a day, we aren’t going to magically transform it in a day. Yes, we’ll get there, but its going to take a little time. On that same note, if you’re looking to really improve your wardrobe and show up in style, its going to take some work and one (or even a few) boxes from a big box subscription service isn’t going to fix that.

Misconceptions of working with Me

If I had a dollar for every time I heard ‘Oh, what you do sounds so cool! I would love to work with someone like you, but I can’t afford that’ I would have a small fortune. Honestly, working with a wardrobe professional saves you money, so I thought, why not bring to you the most common misconceptions I hear in regards to hiring a wardrobe consultant and give my 2 cents on them. Lets go :)

Unless you are living off the clothes you throw on the floor, your closet is a place you have to go to and decide what you’re going to wear for the day. Sounds simple right? Well then why do I continually here that women are stressed out by their closets? Here’s 5 signs you need a closet audit before this winter.

Try New Things

A few weeks ago my family and I went kayaking and while we were driving, it occurred to me that I really like farms. I know, not your typical first line from me, but hear me out. We drove about 45 minutes to a kayaking spot. The drive is peppered with farms and beautiful homes set back on large pastures. This may not sound like much or out of the ordinary to you, this gal grew up in Upstate New York in a modest home, in a neighborhood where all of my neighbors were visible followed by a short stint in NYC. No farms there.
