5 Signs You Need a Closet Audit

Name one place you go everyday that forces you to make decisions that will impact the rest of the day. Have you ever thought of your closet in that way? Unless you are living off the clothes you throw on the floor, your closet is a place you have to go to and decide what you’re going to wear for the day. Sounds simple right? Well then why do I continually here that women are stressed out by their closets? Here’s 5 signs you need a closet audit before this right now.

  1. You have tons of clothes and nothing to wear. New clients often contact me wanting my personal shopping package and I explain to them that really the most important part of building a wardrobe that suits your is getting rid of what doesn’t. Think of it this way… would you just keep buying new bread without tossing the moldy stale leftovers? No. It makes perfect sense that before we add to our pantries we toss out the expired stale food, why don’t we think of our closets in the same way? All those clothes that don’t serve you are just added noise, clutter and stress that come in between you and your optimum style. Adding more clothes is a temporary fix to the problem.

  2. You want to look taller and slimmer. In a closet audit, you’ll try on some of your favorite pieces and we’ll analyze them. I’ll point out why certain cuts work for your body and explain why others don’t. Without fail, an ‘Ah-Ha!’ moment will occur when I demonstrate how hemming a garment or synching the waist on a dress can completely transform the way it looks on you! Often we as women don’t know the technical reasons as to why a garment isn’t flattering or at least as flattering as it can be, and as a result, you make the mistake over and over again. By the end of an audit you’ll get clear about the type of garments that make you look slimmer and taller.

  3. Your image is out of sync with your wardrobe. You’re a bad b*tch but your wardrobe is busted. It is so important that your wardrobe matches the high performer you are. Let me also say that ‘high performer’ is a relative term. You can be a fierce attorney, or you can be an uber organized killer stay at home mom. Both of you are high performing and deserve a wardrobe that says ‘I got this and then some’ AND make you believe it even on your worst days.

  4. You don’t know how to put looks together. During an audit I’m going to give you styling suggestions on how to wear your favorite pieces. At the end, I’ll take photos of your most worn items and create a lookbook accessible from any device that will guide you as you get dressed in the morning. You’ll have a new appreciation for items in your closet and be clear on the different ways you can wear it.

  5. You wear the same 10 things over and over again. In this case, you’re in a style rut. The other items in your closet no longer inspire you and you just reach for what feels comfortable for you. A closet audit will help you let go of the items that no longer serve you, and we’ll discover the direction your style needs to go in order to allow you to thrive. I’ll also show you how to mix and match your existing items with each other to give them new life.

Which sign applies to you? 1? 2? All? Contact me here to see if we are a good fit for each other! Consultations are always free. I would love to help you audit your closet just in time for this new season!
