A Dress For Your Next Event
One of the most common things I hear from my clients is that they love dresses and they find them easier when getting dressed because it is all just one piece. I don't disagree with that!
I absolutely love dresses! For me, they make me feel feminine and dressed up even when I'm pairing them with sneakers. This week I've styled 8 different looks for different occasions you might find on your calendar this Spring!
When it comes to finding the right dress, it can be tricky... here are a few of my top tips!
If you're someone who wears a lot of athleisure, why not try a tennis dress as opposed to your leggings. This Spring, try something new and swap your leggings for an active dress. It will still be cute with your favorite sneakers and will be just as comfortable and casual. Pair with a casual structured jacket for some added polish. I like this one here, available in standard, tall and petite sizing.
Choose cotton poplin or linen over jersey. The jersey knit swing dress and fitted T-shirt dress are dated styles. Quite frankly, there are more polished and sophisticated styles that are just as easy and casual. A shirt dress (there's one linked this week!) is a modern upgrade to the jersey styles and looks far more elevated. A shirt dress can also easily be styled with a flat, sneaker, sandal or heel.
A pair of slip shorts is nice added coverage and also nice in the warmer months to prevent any thigh rubbing. I have these and personally love them! If you're looking for a bit more support, these shorts in cotton will be breathable for the warmer months but still provide smoothing and shaping.
Dresses still require styling! Don't forget to add jewelry, a coordinating bag, even a belt. An easy way to elevate a dress is by swapping out the belt it came with for a leather one with hardware.
