Summer Trends That I am Here For

Summer Trends That I am Here For

Hey Ladies! I missed you! It has been a hot minute since I wrote a blog but I am committed to be back! In the spirit of warmer months, I wanted to talk about the summer trends that I am all about right now. Being super trendy isn’t something I aspire to be, and actually, its the opposite of what I teach to my clients. I love creating timeless wardrobes that can be versatile season over season, but occasionally, there is a trend that I like to mix into my wardrobe to make it feel fresh. Opting into a trend should feel right. If you feel uncomfortable in it, they its probably not the trend for you, and that OK. And the great thing about having a timeless wardrobe is that you can easily mix in a trend or two each year and it will fit seamlessly in with your existing wardrobe. Here are 3 summer trends that you’ll be seeing me wear on repeat.

  1. Braided Sandals. They started to become popular last year, but we all remember 2020 and how slim our calendars were so I opted out of purchasing a pair. BUT they are back again this summer and I am all in! I love that there are different styles and options to make this trend all inclusive! Whether your fancy is a block heel, stiletto, or flat, anyone can participate with this trend. Braided sandals while being a current trend, also aren’t SO trendy that you can’t wear them in years to come. Here are two examples below. I personally own the nude pair and find myself constantly reaching for them! The white pair is a low heeled slide that I purchased for a client. To shop these styles and others, click here.

2. The 90’s jean. I said it… the 90’s jean. 90’s is having a moment again and while there are a few things I wish didn’t come back (bucket hat), I do love this jean. Known for its lighter wash, its wider leg opening, and its high rise… I am here for it. I also love that there are variations of this trend that you can work for you. Opt for a cropped pair for summer or a full length pair to make your legs look long and lean. This is not me saying the skinny jean is out because I love a skinny jean and they will forever be a closet staple, but for summer the last thing I want on my legs when its hot AF out is a tight skinny jean. I love a pair of 90’s/mom jean with distressing for summer to let your legs breathe! If you’re like me and you can’t sit around at home in jeans, I encourage you to try this style! In addition to being great for warmer months, they’re super comfy! Pair with your favorite bodysuit or crop top and you are good to go! Here are a few pairs to check out.

3. The last trend that I am here for are bralettes and blazers. If you know me at all, you know I LIVE for a blazer. I own A LOT and feel like they complete any outfit. For summer, why not layer one over your bralette for instant sex appeal without being too overtly sexy. This is a great look for some of those cooler nights. You may be thinking, there is no way I’m going out in just a bralette… hold on, lets discuss. If you want to pull off this trend, my first tip is to focus on the fit of the blazer. It should be more oversized, you should be able to easily button the blazer and have relaxed arms that you can push up from the elbow. Whether you are taking advantage of this trend or not, these are great fit notes for wearing a blazer in general too. Another idea for this trend is to wear a lacy tank instead of the bralette (like the first picture below). You still get the same sex appeal, but with more coverage. Maybe you’re thinking I don’t have the stomach to wear this… well I actually think this look is slimming. If you button the blazer your stomach will not be exposed and your waist will follow the contour of the blazer which naturally curves in at the waist. Below are a few pictures from Pinterest for inspiration.

I am so excited for this summer and all the fashions! If your summer wardrobe is still stuck in the 2020 fashion depression and needs an update, reach out to me! I would love to help and see if we are a good fit for each other!

xo, Ashley
