Simply Sophisticated Summer
Does anyone else feel like 4th of July is like an unwritten mile marker of summer? If I relate it to a horse race, 4th of July would be the midpoint on the backstretch before the horses give it all they’ve got to the finish line. That analogy seems fitting for me being from Upstate NY where the Saratoga Race Track is an iconic summer hot spot. Its not only a place for recreation but the fashion! Needless to say, even though I feel like summer is slipping away, there is plenty of fun to be had in the next 6 weeks or so and I’ve got two tips for you on how to make the rest of July and August effortlessly stylish.
When it comes to getting dressed, I’m all about big impact, minimal effort especially during hot summer days. I understand that a lot of women out there want to look great without working hard at it so here are 2 things that all women of any effort level, size, or occupation can incorporate.
Ditch rubber flip flops. Rubber flip flops have a time and a place- public showers, by the front door to get the mail, or by water. Gone are the days when we match our Old Navy flip flops to our outfit. When its time to get dressed for a summer outing, swap those rubber flops out for an embellished pair of sandals. A decorative pair of sandals looks intentional but still effortless. Even if its just a simple pair of denim shorts and a white tee or a black maxi dress, embellished sandals verses rubber flip flops make the look more sophisticated and stylish without compromising function. Accessorize. Adding a pair of hoops and a stack of bracelets to your wrist is like the sprinkles on top of your soft serve. I feel like I talk about how important accessorizing is SO MUCH but its because it is! It completes a look and pulls it all together. If you’re someone that doesn’t like jewelry much, find a few pieces that are versatile and suit you. You can never go wrong with gold hoops and a stack of bracelets or layered necklaces. Lately, I’ve been playing around with rings and loading up my right hand with them! Summer is fun, let your accessories be too and even think out of the box and opt for a bright colored purse or a straw hat!
