Add to Cart: Your Fall Boot Guide
When it comes to Fall fashion, boots are the first thing that crosses my mind. There’s something about a good boot. A good boot can completely transform an outfit, can elongate the frame and make you feel 10 pounds thinner, and also serve as functional footwear in the cooler months.
Let’s cut to the chase though. I know why you’re here. You’ve got a pair of boots that you need to replace because they’re beat up from last year. Or maybe your feet have changed and the boots that you wore last season just aren’t comfortable anymore. Maybe you’re ready to level up and invest in a really fierce pair of suede boots for the season… whatever reason you’re here for the goods.
When it comes to shopping for and styling boots, I’ve got a few quick guidelines that are a must follow. There are also a few styling tips under each look :)
Read these quick 10 tips before shopping for your perfect pair!
1. Don’t waste your time with faux leather. Boots should only be purchased in genuine, leather or suede unless you have a moral against leather.
2. The gap between your boots and jeans is no longer acceptable. Booties should have a taller shaft that end above the ankle to fit up underneath your pants.
3. Always, always make sure to protect your suede boots. I like this one here.
4. When wearing dresses or skirts, always wear a tall, knee-high or over the knee boot.
5. Low shaft, stubby round toe boots are dated. They’re never coming back in style, purge these.
6. If you’re looking to purchase one boot and wear it for the rest of your life, purchase a mid height heel, pointed toe boot. Stilettos never go out of style.
7. Transition your cropped jeans into Fall and Winter by styling with a knee high boot. Like seen here:
8. If you live in the city, don’t buy boots with a leather covered heel. They’ll get destroyed by city grates or uneven pavement. Instead opt for a wooden or plastic heel.
9. Buy for your lifestyle. While a flat boot might not be as exciting as a sexy snakeskin heel, if that’s what you’ll reach for the most, invest in a quality pair.
10. Think beyond black! A brown, tan, cream or metallic boot can be just as versatile!
