How to Pull off Monochrome

How to Pull off Monochrome

Dressing in monochrome is one of my favorite styling techniques. This styling technique has been increasingly more popular and was seen all over the Fall runways.

Monochrome styling is all about creating a cohesive, impactful look by using a single color palette. It’s a powerful way to make a statement while keeping things elegant and visually streamlined. Let me shed some light on why I love this styling technique so much!

1. By dressing in one color from head to toe, you create a sophisticated, elongated silhouette that works beautifully for both casual and formal settings. What does this mean? Wearing the same color from head to toe makes you appear taller and thinner! This is because the eye continues to travel up and down the body without stopping. Each time you create a horizontal line on your figure (with a change of a color or belt for example) your eye stops and it has a shortening and widening effect. This is the reason why people say that all black is slimming... you can achieve the same effect with color!

2. This style of dressing is like 'Dressing for Dummies'. (Can you picture those yellow textbooks from the 90's?! LOL). But honestly, it makes getting dressed so easy by choosing pieces all in the same color. For added visual interest, vary your textures too. Mixing leathers, wool, silks and lace for example will give your look added interest and dimension.

3. This styling technique feels LUXE. I always tell my clients that my goal is always to make them look expensive even if we haven't spent a ton of money. Who doesn't want that, right?! There is a reason why this styling technique is so widely used on the runways.
