Your Next Boho Chic Look Inside
Making so much buzz this Fall were the Bohemian chic runways of Chloe and Isabel Marant. With long draping silk ruffles, gorgeous leathers, studded details and delicate lace, Bohemian styles have taken even the most classic of hearts.
The bohemian aesthetic is often associated with eclectic, vintage, or natural styles, with a very care-free, free-spirited vibe. It values creativity, individuality, and an organic, often handmade, approach to art and design. This season, the styles have this same feel, but mixed with a cool girl edge.
One of my favorite parts of studying the runways is the inspiration it sparks. Honestly, that is what I love about styling. I love seeing something and having it evoke an idea or emotion in a look. You'll find that this week's looks are inspired by the runways, with a more approachable view on the trend.
What I love and appreciate about the boho aesthetic is the understated drama and romance of the style. Its use of muted colors and soft fabrics brings the drama in a quiet way. While identifying with a bohemian style of dressing appeals to a very specific woman, I think you can still dabble in this trend if you’re someone who doesn’t consider themselves boho. Mixing some of the more boho styles with classic tailored items will also help to make some of the styles feel more classic. When trying a new trend, I also understand you might not want to really invest. For this reason, you'll also find that this catalog features all items under $300. Mixing some lower end items with your investment pieces is always a good idea too.
A few weeks ago at my client appreciation event, I featured this bohoemian inspired look.
The skirt was made of a light chiffon material with cascading ruffles inspired by the skirts seen on the Chloe runway. The sweater I paired with it, while feels more classic, the sleeves feature a similar billowed sleeve also seen on the Chloe runway. I share this example with you to show you that a look doesn't have to be- and shouldn't be- an imitation of another but inspired by with your own personal style interjected.
I hope you enjoy this week's Bohemian Chic collection.
