Stimulus for the Soul

Stimulus for the Soul

Yesterday morning I woke up to 58 text messages from my ‘The Girls’ text group all talking about their stimulus checks that had hit their bank account. April 15th, 2020 will forever be remembered as Stimulus Day instead of Tax Day. I think the government realized that there are a lot of women out there in dire need for a visit with their therapist. So in a social distancing attempt to re-center the women of America, we were given a chance to engage in retail therapy. One might argue that it has the same great effect on the soul.

So with your newfound funds, what does one do?

Before you scour the internet I thought of a few tips and ideas.

  1. Take inventory before you shop. Even though it’s still pretty chilly here in South Jersey, my mind is already on Summer. It’s unfortunate, but I’ve accepted the fact that Spring is virtually gone. Is there anything from last summer that you wore out and is need of an upgrade? We have a pool so my mind is often on swimsuits and coverups. But in all seriousness, what do you really need for next season? Click here for some of my favorite summer staples that will compliment any wardrobe!

  2. Get after that investment piece you’ve been drooling over. An investment piece is just that, an investment. You purchase it because you know you will have it forever, it is a classic and timeless, and makes you feel oh so good when you have it on. Is that a pair of Louboutins? A Gucci belt? For some that’s a handbag, others maybe a watch. Whatever it is, take the stimulus as a nudge from the Universe to ‘go ahead, girl’. An investment piece can turn a $10 target dress into fashion’s next best thing. I absolutely love mixing high and low pieces.

  3. You guessed it, working with an image consultant. Be it me or someone else (preferably me, obviously) but working with a wardrobe professional saves you money in the long run. Wouldn’t it be great to determine exactly what colors and fits flatter you best? Or how to remix and style your wardrobe to make you appreciate it again? Read the testimonials, you won’t regret it.

Be safe, be well everyone. Looking forward to seeing you on the other side of this.

xo, Ashley
