The 2 Things You Need This Spring

The 2 Things You Need This Spring

Give me spring! Give me the warmer temps, no need for a jacket and all the outdoor activities. But before I can throw in the towel on winter, I know we have a few more weeks of this. As a way to still give me the spring vibes while its still frigid, I have 2 items you need in your wardrobe now to transition your winter wardrobe into a warmer feel.

First, if you haven’t read my previous blog post on transitional styling, brush up on that now. I wrote that post about transitioning from summer to fall, but the same holds true for transitioning from winter to spring. I love to extend the life of my garments into the next season by switching up the styling to make it feel fresh. Here are two things you need in your wardrobe to give your winter wardrobe new life!

  1. Light wash Denim. By swapping your dark denim for a lighter wash your look feels… well, lighter! We always associate spring with carefree dresses and pastel colors, this also applies to your denim. The light wash denim is great all year long, so rest assured that if you invest in a new pair, its worth the investment as you can wear it all 12 months. Looking to make your wardrobe feel more current? Play with different denim styles! I love a mom or straight leg jean for the girl who has only worn skinny jeans for the past 10 years. I call it my ‘gateway denim’ because its a new shape so it feels current, but its not that different from a skinny jean. Its a slight nudge out of your comfort zone.

  2. A white or beige bootie. Balance out the lighter colors in your look by pairing it with a light colored bootie. A light bootie is a great transitional shoe from your winter boots to spring sandals. The white bootie has been on trend for 2 years now and I don’t see it leaving. Now is the time to scoop up a pair at the end of the season for a steal and then get use out of them next winter as well. When shopping the sale, think about what boots you grabbed the most this season. Did it have a block heel? If so, don’t be swayed by the sale of a stiletto because you won’t get much wear out of it!

Here is a round up of my favorite light wash jeans and booties!
