Versatility At Its Finest

Versatility is something I preach whether you hear it from me as a follower on IG or as a client in the studio. To be able to bring pieces into your wardrobe that you can wear in multiple ways, for multiple occasions is something I do not take lightly. 

I think part of the art of maximizing versatility is twofold: being able to imagine and stretch your creativity, and understanding how to dress up a casual item or down a dressy item. This week, I've created visuals that do just that for you! I've styled the same coat 8 different ways to maximize your investment. 

When it comes to outerwear, the world doesn't need another black coat. #boring This week I've chosen a brown cropped faux fur and styled it for all facets of your life from errands all the way to a black tie affair. 

I think one of the feelings that a versatile piece brings is validity and calmness. It validates your purchase and calms your feelings of whether you'll get your money's worth. Here are a few tips to ensure you're bringing in versatile pieces into your wardrobe:

1. Does the piece solve both a NEED and a WANT? You could need something but not be excited about purchasing it (you lack the desire, the want). Pieces like this will never get a lot of wear because there is no excitement behind them. Hold out for pieces that appeal to both senses. 

2. Can you list 3 different scenarios that are going to occur or have occurred in your life that you would wear the item? Listing out events that are going to occur ensures you will wear it in the near future, and events that have occured will give you confidence that a similar event will arise and you'll be excited to utilize the piece for that. 

3. Do you already have items in your wardrobe that will pair perfectly with the item? An item that requires you to purchase several other items is a serious waste of time. Unless you're buying them all together, the new piece will sit in your closet until you get around to finding the perfect companion(s) for it.
