Wardrobe Builder on a Budget
Ladies… all week long I’ve talked to you (on my IG stories) about how you can majorly benefit from an end of season sale and I thought I would put it all in one place here for you. Let talk about the guidelines first and then I’m gonna work my magic and do a round up of some great pieces out there for you!
Shopping sale should be mutually beneficial for your wallet AND building your wardrobe.
Here’s a breakdown of some rules a sale item should follow before you go scooping up a ton of merchandise on clearance…
Build don’t just buy. Building a wardrobe is different then just buying clothes. A wardrobe is cohesive, it is versatile. There is a balance between staple items and statement pieces, structured garments and ones with soft flow, just to name a few. I actually teach my clients about 10 elements a well rounded wardrobe should have. The best way to see what you need to develop your wardrobe is to edit your wardrobe. Can’t tackle it alone? Check out my closet audit services. Pssst… I’ve got an option that’s only $100.
Make sure an item is congruent with your personal style and realistic for your lifestyle. Being honest with yourself about this will save you from buying an item that is just going to sit in your closet. Sure, we all love a good sale. But it becomes a waste of your money if you don’t actually wear the item. Can you picture yourself at an event wearing the item? Can you style it with something you already own? If you need to buy other things to make it wearable, now you’ve just spent all your savings and chances are the item doesn’t align with your personal style.
Don’t be blinded by the label. Often I hear, ‘Well its ____ [insert designer]. Who cares what label it is if you don’t actually wear it! Unless its draped in a brand’s logo, no one will know who it is. Put it on and ask yourself, if this were from Target would I still love it?
Lastly, and most importantly, Quality is Queen. Use a sale as a chance to pick up some quality staple pieces for your wardrobe that maybe you can’t afford at full price. Or maybe you find yourself wearing out an item you already own and you use this time to purchase an alternate or a more current version. A quality item is one you can wear season after season and it still looks great. It fits into your wardrobe and lifestyle seamlessly, and you can style it in many ways. Quality items are essential to you wardrobe because it’s how you can wear a $10 top from Walmart and still make the outfit look like its from Bloomingdales.
Ok, you’ve waited long enough right? This is really why you read the blog… here is a roundup of some of my wardrobe builder items I’ve found on super sale right now.
