Errands with Ease

Errands with Ease

Errands. We all have em. We all hate em. A million places to go, a million things to do. Wouldn’t looking chic make them better? I think so.

I feel like when it comes to errands, I can’t get out of the house fast enough, and the same goes for trying to get back. I however, am not so good at the getting home quickly part. Seems like when I’m out I magically remember a laundry list of things I needed or places I wanted to stop. Why not look chic in case you run into {insert anyone applicable} after stop #3.

So, what is your errands style. Athleisure? First thing you see in your closet? Yesterday’s outfit that hasn’t made it into the laundry basket? Whatever you gravitate towards, it should look effortless and easy. Your outfit should make your errands easier, not more complicated. Here are a few tips and some of my favorite pieces for looking stylish for your errands with ease.

  1. Keep it practical. Your outfit is the last thing you should be thinking about while your running all over town, so keep your look easy and let it work for you, not against you. So that means comfortable shoes are an absolute must! Maybe a cross body bag to use your hands, even a built in bra for comfort. I would avoid linen as it wrinkles so easily and with all the in and out of the car, your seatbelt will leave you looking like an accordian.

  2. Choose a statement piece that doesn’t interfere with your day. I love a hat for errands, preferably wide brimmed or fedora style. In the winter you could go for a cute beanie, too. Hats scream confidence. They elevate a simple look and add visual interest. You know what else they do? They hide greasy hair and a shiny forehead when all that running around causes you to break a sweat. I am also loving bracelet stacks. Stretchy ones are comfortable and perfect for running around. If you’re feeling extra or fancy, a statement earring will also do the trick, but anything too fancy eliminates the whole ‘easy and effortless’ part of the equation. Another statement piece that is easy for summer… a printed drawstring short. I’ve linked to a few examples at the end of this post. Pair with a basic tee and accessories, easy peasy lemon squeezy (I’ll take mine with vodka).

  3. If you’re choosing athleisure, go for matchy matchy. I get it- you get dressed in the morning to workout and run errands with the intention of doing it after. Or maybe you have no intention, but leggings are just the easiest, most comfy thing you have. Girl, I’ve been there. I completely get it. So next time, reach for a matching set or go monochromatic. All of a sudden just that little change makes your look intentional and put together. If possible, take it all the way down to the kicks and carry that color through. The easiest way to achieve this without buying a new outfit is by wearing all black.

  4. Stick with the basics and follow tip #2. Have you downloaded my ‘12 Wardrobe Basics to Maximize Your Wardrobe’ yet? Classic styles always look put together, but pay attention to fit and quality to really achieve this. A white tee and jeans goes from amazing to awful if the jeans don’t fit properly or the tee is see through.

  5. One piece fits all functions. I love a romper, maxi or jumpsuit for errands. Choose one in a thick terry cotton material and it makes errands a breeze. Layer with a denim jacket in spring, or leather jacket in fall, add accessories and done! The great thing about these pieces is that they also can transition well from day to night… I love a good two for one!
