Are Luxury Goods Worth the Investment?
Are luxury goods worth the investment? With the recent news surrounding the cost to make one of Dior's coveted bags, some of you might be asking yourself are luxury goods worth it?
While I personally feel as if the quality of vintage luxury goods is superior to new luxury goods, I still would not shy away from investing in a luxury piece and here are my thoughts.
Investing in your wardrobe is an investment in yourself. When you purchase something that you have been eyeing, manifesting and dreaming about, when that piece actually comes home with you it’s magnetic. Investment pieces give off high vibes that affect how you show up. I’ve seen it time and time again with my clients. Clients have said to me how special it makes them feel when wearing their investment pieces and rightfully so! When purchasing investment items you are sub consciously telling yourself that you are worthy. I can’t tell you how many times a client has asked ‘what is this fabric?!’ after I put them in silk. It’s amazing to watch their whole mood change. With an investment piece, I love the appreciation for how much you worked for that item or how special it makes you feel. It goes without saying that investment items also last longer, feel better on your skin, and look luxe. I always consider cost per wear when investing.
Let me also state that investment pieces are different for everyone and can occur at any budget. For my clients, investment pieces are typically designer, but if you’re reading this and designer is out of the question for you, note that these same high vibes and increased self worth can also be achieved from any piece that is a little more than you’re used to spending and higher quality. You get to decide that.
When it comes to investing in a luxury item, I personally advise looking for pieces that really resonate with you and pieces that you can see yourself using and wearing for years to come. Think timeless silhouettes and colors in your color palette. If you have daughters, it’s always nice to collect these pieces to have some thing to pass down to them. My favorite items to invest in our handbags, belts, shoes, sunglasses and outerwear. Avoid the ‘must have’ items as they’re likely a fad and won’t stand up to the test of time.
Remember, you’re worth it. You’re worthy of luxuries and investing in yourself.
