How to Master Transitional Styling
Getting dressed for the office in the Winter can feel daunting. When you finally see a glimmer of Spring and then it snows again can certainly feel like a kick in the face from mother nature. This week I gave a masterclass on the Spring trends and it snowed. So trust me, I get it. (By the way, the replay and the shopping links are still available if you're having fomo).
This transitional period can have you feeling burnt out and sick of your Winter wardrobe wanting something fresh and new, but also leave you feeling like you should just hold off until the weather turns. We all know how a good outfit can boost your mood, especially during this last Winter push. This week, I've styled 4 looks for you, perfect for battling the last of the Winter blues, and then transformed them into looks perfect for Spring.
If you're someone purchasing during this time, I think it's important to consider how you can transition these new pieces into the next season to maximize cost per wear. Here are 3 tips to consider when trying to style pieces across seasons.
1. Layer. Choosing a layer that feels current to the season is a great way to extend its life to multiple seasons. For example, in Winter I might choose a wool blazer and in Spring I might opt for a cardigan. Both are layering pieces but the fabrication reflects each season.
2. Switch up your footwear. In this week's looks you'll notice I changed the footwear in order to transform the look from Winter to Spring. Styling a look with a boot in Winter and a mesh slingback or even ballet flat for Spring is an easy way to transition a look.
3. Choose a light colored shoe. Swapping out a black pump for something lighter in color is an easy way to lighten your look and make it feel brighter for Spring. Your usual all black look for Winter can get a fresh spin for Spring by swapping for a shoe in a pop of color or even nude. The contrast will also add visual interest.
If you're in a location that still has Winter weather, stay positive, we're in the home stretch! Those Winter blues are nothing a little retail therapy can't fix :)
