When Leopard is Not a Good Idea

When Leopard is Not a Good Idea

I know. I know. How can this even be a blog?! I’m with you on the leopard ‘trend’. I put trend in quotes because for me, leopard is timeless and is a neutral. It goes with stripes, it goes with floral, it goes with all colors, but I’m here to tell you when it doesn’t go. I’m so happy that all of you seem to have jumped on this animal print trend, but lets just make sure we’re all on the same page here.

  1. Leopard on Leopard. Please just stick to one item. Your leopard prints will never match exactly, and were trying to highlight the print, not overwhelm. So whether it is in a top, belt or bootie, just choose one. This includes resin accessories that have an abstract leopard print. Not sure what resin is, check out some of my favorite resin accessories here.

  2. Jungle Jamboree. There really is no need to bring all the animals to the party- leopards, zebras, and cheetahs- Oh My! Find a print to be your focal point and highlight it with the rest of your outfit. Wearing more than one animal print creates multiple focal points and leads to a visually unappealing look.

  3. Be Choosy. Not all animal prints are created equal. Stay away from prints that don’t look realistic or look cheap. You don’t have to spend a lot on this trend (even though you can because it is timeless), but your piece should look rich and luxe. This ‘trend’ can go cheesy or even worse, trashy, quickly and picking a quality piece will avoid that.

If this post still doesn’t help and you want to participate in the leopard trend, the easiest way is to work it into your accessories. I love a leopard belt! It adds interest to an all black outfit, and dresses up a jeans and white tee look! Check out some of my favorite leopard finds here!
