I Don't Give a Sock
Today’s post was inspired by my girl Suzanne Taylor. You may have noticed her popping up on my feed recently. I recently met her at a lunch and instantly knew we would vibe. Fast forward, and I’ve styled her for two speaking engagements and we’ve been to several events together. I highly encourage you to check out her site-she provides authentic life and career coaching in a truly magnetic way.
So what is this post really about?
Have you ever been in a situation where someone asks you ‘Have you seen ___ ?’ or ‘Have you ever tried ___ ?’ and your answer is ‘No’. You can insert really anything in those blanks, the point is that the answer is no, but then immediately you can’t stop seeing those things? For example, last time I went to Hawaii I had an acai bowl. I had never heard of one and was obsessed. As soon as we got home I started seeing acai bowls everywhere and can even get them at BJs.
Recently, Suzanne asked me if socks and heels was ever coming back in. I immediately gave her that ‘look’. I told her, I’m not really sure, but I feel that that look is more of a couture style than ready to wear fashion. Literally later that night as I’m reading my Harper’s Bazaar, I see this:
Heels and socks everywhere! This sock and heel combination is at the forefront of the spring ads for Louis Vuitton, Ferragamo, Fendi and Max Mara. So is it in? I guess? Will you start seeing it more as you go out to dinner? Probably not. But, I have an alternative! If this trend really tickles your heart strings but you don’t have it in you to be a fashion trailblazer, try a sock bootie!
A sock bootie is a bootie that has a tight knit shaft to give the appearance of a sock. It is a little more of a feminine style, which is why this bootie looks great with dresses and skirts! Because it is tight around the ankle area, it keeps a low profile and doesn’t add any bulk, creating a great streamlined look. Here are some of my favorites you can find online now:
You can find links to all of these booties here by clicking on each boot. I personally own the silver pair! If this is a trend you are thinking about, now is the time as its the end of the season and there are some great sales out there!
